The Secret to True Beauty

What is the Secret to True Beauty?

As a mom of two very busy elementary aged children, I know all too well the challenges of finding time just for self. Moms definitely want to look beautiful and feel great, but at times it can seem almost impossible to do so. But there is hope, I am here to help you to change that mindset and start making your own beauty and wellness needs a top priority in your life.

The secret to True Beauty is SELF-care. Beauty is skin deep and starts with living a life that supports our wellness, from the inside out.

Living a life of wellness starts with accepting who and where you are in life, then adopting a lifestyle of self care. A self caring lifestyle is not selfish, it’s a must. In order to give our best, we must be at our best, and that starts with putting yourself on the top of your priority list.

I know as women, especially as mothers, we cringe at this suggestion. How could we possibly put ourselves first if we have children and a household to take care of? We have families, homes, jobs, businesses and much more. How could we possibly take, or rather, find the time for ourselves? At one point I felt the same way, and at times I still slip back to this way of thinking. But the truth of the matter is that you have to find the time to make yourself a priority. There’s no other way to live a balanced and healthy life of beauty and wellness without doing so. In order to sufficiently take care of your children, your home, your family, or even your business, you must first take care of yourself.

Have you ever wondered why when on a plane during the flight instructions, the stewardess tells you to first place the oxygen mask on yourself than your child. It’s because if you can’t breathe then there’s no way you will be able to help your child in times of distress. Self care is the same concept. Allow yourself to breathe first, give yourself the breath your life needs, then you can sufficiently help to others. Before you can fix anyone else, you must first fix yourself.

Living a life that is focused on your own self care is a way of life that has to be practiced daily. It’s a choice and a decision that has to be made every day; it requires patience as well as compassion with yourself and others. You may find that others don’t take to kindly to you wanting to “Do You”, but holdfast and stay firm in your conviction. It’s something that must be done. The decision starts with a renewing of your mind. Letting go of all the old, negative self talk can be a challenge, but it’s a necessity in order for you to grow and begin to live your best life yet.  It’s a change that’s needed in order to grow into the women we were meant to be. You have to let go of old habits, in order to make room for the new, improved ones that will actually serve a purpose towards your growth.

Today I challenge each of you to start to focus on your needs and take a few extra minutes each day to spend on you and you alone. Start a journal, write down your thoughts on how it feels to put yourself  first and let’s discuss them at the end of the week.

Live Well & Walk in your beauty.

Renewed

As springs gets underway I feel a sense of urgency that I usually don’t feel in the colder months.

As the weather changes, the flowers bloom and the birds chirp louder than ever, I feel a sense of renewal. I feel as if I could take on the world and win. Spring is the time of renewal, of rebirth, if you will. It’s the time of the year where we need to clean up and show out.

Are you making the steps needed to renew your life and or situation? Are you taking the steps needed to clean up the mess that has been left over from the winter? Have you taken an honest assessment of the clutter that has been filling every crevice of your life?

In the winter we tend to hibernate in the hopes of staying warm and cozy and undisturbed. Bad habits start to settle in. Negative thoughts and or people take up space and we allow them to leave their mess laying around our precious space.

That’s why spring cleaning is so important. We need to dust away the bad habits. We need to put the negativity in a trash bag and throw it away and not just move it to another spot.

If renewal is to happen, you must push through all the pain and discomfort that comes with birthing your new dream, passion, purpose and movement. You must accept the fact that giving birth is not easy, but in the end you have the most beautiful and precious gift that you could ever imagine.

Now is the time. No time is better that the present; yes the present is exactly what is sounds like; a “present” from God, giving you another change to be better, live better and give better.

Here’s to your renewed life.

Live Well and Walk in your Beauty.
